The Kiwanis Club of Cartersville is dedicated to the mission of helping kids in all of Bartow County.
Bringing Up Grades Program
The Kiwanis Club of Cartersville participates in the Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Program. BUGs is a program that recognizes primary/elementary school age students who raise their grades or maintain good grades from one grading period to the next. Students are motivated to excel because they set their own goals — and they participate in peer mentoring, which involves their classmates in their success. When they reach their goals, the entire class celebrates.
Scholarships
Our club offers scholarships to high school and college students. Scholarships may include technical schools, as well as 4 year programs. In total, the scholarship fund may provide $4,000 – $ 6,000 to students annually.
Kiddie Day Parade
The Kiddie Day Parade may be our biggest undertaking annually. Reportedly the oldest parade in the nation focused solely on children, the parade is at no cost to participants and is held the third Saturday of September each year in Downtown Cartersville.
School Requests
The Kiwanis Club of Cartersville considers each individual request made by schools in Cartersville and Bartow County. This may include:
Paying off student lunch debt for students with money owed to the school cafeteria rolling over from one year to the next.
Providing snacks for student and/or teacher celebrations.
Providing a meal for the Cartersville Middle School Drama class for each of their productions.
Providing a meal for the Cartersville High School Band during football season.
Considering individual requests from the schools.
Community Needs
Recently the Kiwanis Club donated funds to a local church to support their Back to School Shoe Giveaway. This allowed hundreds of students to start the school year off with new shoes!
Contributes to the Friends of the Library Program at the Bartow County Library System.
Support the local Salvation Army Angel Tree Program at Christmas.
